Sticks and Stones

Audrey came into my room one morning in tears,

Audrey: "Mommy, Alyssa is mad at me. She called me mean names!"

Me: "What did she call you?
Audrey: "I don't want to think about it."

Me: "Alyssa, did you call Audrey mean names?"

(Alyssa shakes her head, no).

Me: Audrey, what did Alyssa call you?

Audrey: She called me... (insert dramatic/traumatic? pause):

"Buster!!"

Me: (laughing hysterically). "Alyssa where did you learn that name?"

Alyssa: (grinning) names the friend who taught it to her.

I tried to reprimand appropriately, but really how angry can you get about "Buster?!"
