In January it's so nice
To feel the sun instead of ice
A Cali trip did suffice
Sipping once, sipping twice
Sipping chicken soup with ice
In February we were surprised
To see hearts and eggs before our eyes
Daddy-made, I tell no lies
Yummy once, yummy twice
Yummy chicken soup with rice
In March, the blossoms all did bloom
To dispel the last of winter's gloom
And free us from that season's tomb
Lovely once, lovely twice
Lovely chicken soup with rice
In April, Audrey went to sea,
Or river as the case may be
A living classroom jubilee
Sailing once, sailing twice,
Sailing chicken soup with rice
In May, our Daddy did compete,
In his first run/swim/biking meet
Swift of stroke and fleet of feet
Running once, biking twice
Swimming chicken soup with rice
In June to mountains we did take
To swim and hike and memories make
And eat some apple doughnut cake
Shenan-once Doah-twice
Blue Ridge chicken soup with rice
In July there's "Stories and Art"
At National Gallery we take part
French artistry we take to heart
Drawing once, drawing twice
Painting chicken soup with rice
In August to Utah we did flee
To see lots of our dear family
And party with our family tree
Reunion once, reunion twice
Reunion chicken soup with rice
In September it was their fate
To learn to move upon ice skates
For which the girls could hardly wait
Skating once, skating twice
Skating chicken soup with rice
In October, we did find
That Paul Revere was on our mind
The Freedom Trail to wend and wind
Road trip once, road trip twice
Road trip chicken soup with rice
In November comes the Fall
With vibrant colors, loved by all
and leaves to jump and throw and haul
Leaf fight once, leaf fight twice,
Leaf fight chicken soup with rice
In December we reflect
On friends and family we neglect
With whom we wish to reconnect
Merry once, Christmas twice
Best Wishes chicken soup with rice!
(In Memory of Maurice Sendak 1928-2012)

Brilliant!
You did Maurice Sendack proud. What a great Christmas card!
What a great poem & pictures. Your girls are getting so big. It's hard to believe you have been gone from San Diego for so long. Miss your visiting teacher talks.
