The trail begins like this. Lovely meadows and trees.
Then you get to the boardwalk.This stretches for miles. On either side are the wetlands. The air is full of frog musicians. I'd never heard so many frogs sing together! It sounded like a rock concert where the musicians sat around plucking their guitar strings. We also heard bullfrogs, which had a much different sound.
Found some!!
We didn't see a beaver, but did see much of their handiwork. Apparently, this used to be just a meadow with a creek, but the beavers built dams which flooded it and created wetlands.
Back into the forest. We weren't able to explore it all, in one evening. I haven't yet been back, but Graton and Audrey often spend their early Saturday mornings here. It is amazing how different the landscape is on the east coast. It's gorgeous.

Wow! I had no idea it was that large. It will take a long time to explore that whole place. It sounds like you live in such a fun area. Wish we were there to go on hikes there with you guys!
Beautiful! I remember frog choruses on our hikes in NY. Looks like you are finding lots of marvelous places to explore and enjoy!
