One of Audrey's assignments for the Jr. Ranger program was to study a deer for 10 minute. Which sounded hard...
But isn't, because they are thousands of them in Shenandoah. In fact, if they really wanted to make it harder, they should require that you NOT study a deer for 10 minutes. Or at least not hit one when you're driving in the road.
Which is almost impossible at dusk.
But we managed.
We even avoided hitting the bobcat that ran across the road in front of us.
Apparently the deer population was almost extinct in the park. They ended up bringing some deer from Mt. Vernon in the 1930s, and the white-tailed deer are now flourishing.
