Luray Caverns

During our vacation in
Shenandoah, we rented a little cottage in a town called, "Luray."
There isn't much in this "one horse" town, but it does boast some of the most famous caverns in the country. We weren't sure we should visit with Alyssa being so young, but we were glad we did!

"Lake of Dreams"

This is a really amazing mirage. It's just a few inches of water reflecting the stalactite formations above, but it really looks like a deep lake full of rock formations.

"Pluto's Ghost"

This formation seems to follow you throughout the caverns like a ghost.
We were right about Lizzie's lack of enthusiasm, but luckily she did fine in the backpack.

"The Stalacpipe Organ"

The largest musical instrument in the world measuring 3 1/2 acres.

Sure hope these travelogues will motivate you all to come out and visit us!
