Since Christmas was on a Saturday, Graton got the day before Christmas off. We started the day at Mt. Vernon. We toured the mansion for the first time and got to visit the third floor which is only open in December. Mt. Vernon featured a few special Christmas treats such as the "National Turkey." They also had a camel, because George Washington actually rented a came to entertain his guests.
Enjoying a Chocolate making demonstration. Apparently chocolate as candy hadn't yet been invented, (thank goodness to Mr. Lindt in Sweden for his ingenuity), but they did drink a bitter hot chocolate in George Washinton's day.
After Mt. Vernon, we headed to the Air and Space museum's second location, their "overflow" exhibits if you will, located about an hour from D.C. Graton and the girls were really excited to see the "Challenger" space shuttle.
Hamburgers, fries and chocolate malts for dinner at Fuddruckers.
