The American History Museum has a great exhibit called, "Inventions at Play." It teaches all about inventions (such as Kevlar) and their inventors (Stephanie Kwolek).
They also have a great play area that allows kids to make their own inventions. This proved to be a lifesaver on a winter day!
Creating Patterns
Building with Blocks (on a moving surface)
This one was my favorite: Making a track out of kitchen utensils. So fun to watch the ball travel down like a pinball machine.
